“A six-carat ruby”
Materials: cameo of red fabrics
Format: 47 x 47 cm
Gemstones are cut to enhance their natural beauty and make them shine better.
Shiny fabrics such as taffeta, lamé and velvet are ideal materials to transfer this process into textile art. It is necessary to work with very geometric shapes.
A hexagon drawn in a circle of 50 cm diameter turns 3 cm to the right each time. Consequently, each hexagon ultimately presents itself as triangular strips. Five parts of each hexagon have the same colour from dark to light. For the sixth triangle, the reverse order of colours was chosen. Red fabrics of different qualities, graded light to dark, give the work luminosity and brilliance.
