The world turned upside down at the time of the immigrants from Syria, North Africa and other conflict areas led to this theme. People are trying to escape from an unbearable grey world into a better future, even if the way there is blocked by barbed wire, blood and other obstacles.
Thin white cotton fabric was reinforced with fine fleece and sewn onto a background in uneven lines. The small rectangles were made in the same way and painted in different colours.
The top and bottom of the “work” were dyed grey and red respectively. A lot of water made sure that the colour was distributed randomly.
Two figures are created with black cotton using the “honeycomb” sewing technique.
The whole thing is put together in such a way that the tendency to rise – freedom – is emphasised. The small white squares are printed.
