“Red Stars”

Date: 2019

Materials: eight variants of red cotton fabric, red PET bottles

Format: 50 x 50 cm

On a background of thin, long “roof tiles” in different shades of red, small pieces of a red PET bottle sparkle like stars in the sky.

They become precious – they become rubies.

The technique was developed by myself.

Eight variations of red cotton fabric were cut into about 500 small pieces of 1 x 7.5 cm. The pieces were sewn onto a background like tiles on a roof. The colours were chosen and placed to add movement and energy to the uniform red background.

A red PET bottle, cut into small pieces and melted down, was used to make the “Red Stars”, which were fixed with long, loose threads.
